when later made my day

since i was a night owl, i used to watch television a lot at night (i still do when i cant sleep). there's this interactive game show on a local channel called Games Uplate Live that i have been watching for a while now. im not just sure but i think after i've watched the first season, i decided to register and join the game on the second season. my mom also joined it for a while when she was still in the country. my mom would download so much but we just got no luck for such games. but when Rome, my brother's girlfriend, joined the game last season, she was given a chance to play the day she registered! she said, she's really lucky on being picked on raffles and the likes.

to join the game, first, you need to register. next, download some stuff (i.e. ring tones, logos, etc) and then when your celfone number has been chosen, they would call you and you will be given a chance to answer whatever game is on that particular night. i vaguely remember the game Rome played few months back. i think it's a word game. she was unable to guess the right word but she still got a P300 celfone credit as a consolation prize.

season 5 now and i registered again (since only Smart subscribers will be given the chance to play the whole month of July, ive a better chance now) i downloaded twice last week but then again, no call came. i planned to download on my bday (it might be my lucky day :D ) but we werent home then so i wasnt able to do so. so last night, since it's only hours past my birthday (i might still have the luck) so i downloaded twice. but i accidentally fell asleep shortly after supper. awwness.

i was dreaming a good dream when i was awakened by my half-excited brother, "ABS yata ito, sagutin mo dali." he said as he was holding out my celfone to me. i grabbed the phone and pressed answer. "this is games uplate live, anong sagot mo?", somebody from the other line inquired. since i just got up from a dream, i was at a loss. i ran to the tv and tuned in to channel 2. there were nine letters inside a grid on the screen. i think im good at word find but i was really hyped up and could only make out few words. i asked the lady on the other line "what's the topic of the day?" she answered "basta hula ka lang ng word galing sa jumbled letters sa screen". i saw the word "late" (a word that almost describes me as a person ;P) and said "late" to the person on the other line. and then my brother butted in, "later" na lang. so i asked "pwede po bang baguhin?"

"okay, anong word?"

"later po."

"o sige, pakihinaan ang tv at on air tayo in 5, 4, 3, 2, 1"

i was so happy happy and excited that when Jaymee (the game show host) said hello, i almost forgot that it was the moment i've been waiting for (haha). it seemed like an eternity until i was asked for my name.

"Vaneth Leigh"

"sorry?"

"uhm, you can just call me Lei"

"okay Lei, anong hula mo?

"later"

"paki-spell"

"l-a-t-e-r"

i didnt know that i got the 5-letter mystery word until my brother told me. i think i won a P900 worth of celfone load. it might not be the highest price but watching the show for 5 seasons now, i know that it's a pure luck when you get the answer right so im really grateful. i didnt realize that i can be so talkative on air as i wanted to add up that it was my first time after 3 seasons of watching the show and downloading (i dont think i was able to say that). i think i heard her say that i sound happy so i think i said that it was my birthday the other day and so forth but the line was cut off. oops. i cant actually remember whatever i said on air. i just hope that i didnt sound embarrassing. lol. i didnt receive any notification or anything afterwards.i couldnt even remember where i placed my celfone after that. mein Gott. this is the first time that i won (or even picked) on a raffle/game of chance and the first time that the word "later" has become useful to me.
