How To Get Along With Your Parents
rice is indeed a staple food for us pinoys
as i had only 'tsamporado' for breakfast, baked mac for late lunch and 'kutsinta' for merienda yesterday and slept early last night without waiting for the supper, i felt the need to eat something that has rice. so i ate a cup of the leftover chocolate porridge. i wasnt satisfied so i decided to check again for anything edible. good thing there was still a leftover rice. i can't cook, or should i say i don't normally cook at home. of all the household chores, cooking is something that i leave to the hands of the iron chefs at home (my father and my brother who are both so fond of cooking and eating as well). but when i had to, i can always make something that is somehow palatable (although rarely palatable ;P ), at least for myself. it was just past 2 in the morning and without thinking, i poured some oil on the pan, beat 3 eggs, then poured the eggs on without anything but salt, and viola, a dish! next, as my cats surrounded me in the kitchen, went the 'danguits' into the boiling oil, and thank God, they didn't burn this time :D . before i finally sat on the table, i chopped some tomatoes (yes, i eat them raw) and dashed them with a pinch of salt. set it aside while i chop garlic and onions for my danguits' vinegar dip.
i ate like someone that has not eaten for months! although the eggs doesn't really taste like eggs (it's bland but i am certain that i salted it) and i have chewed some shells at least twice while eating, i enjoyed my meal. for the first time, i enjoyed eating the danguit and appreciated the tasty pinoy staple food called rice. burp! excuse me, i'm full. obviously, as i still couldn't sleep yet, i went online. i'm about to check my fb for the mmac game that im so hooked up with :D good morning philippines, it's 3.49 am ^^

Kiss - Because I'm a Girl
i've been hearing this song for quite sometime now but it's just this afternoon that i've seen the video. i was scanning my aunt's pc for music videos when i got curious on this one. when i got home, i tried searching for it (coz i barely remembered the title and then i came across howcast.com) so i can share it here.
p.s.
koreans are suckers for drama, this video made me cry. :S

i can say it's a love at first view. i got so hooked up that i created an account there so i could suggest, write and upload (yes, a chance to ^^) videos anytime i want. meanwhile, i'll keep on exploring the site to seek answers to some more queries left unanswered. keep asking ;)
How To Kiss With Passion
"Are you a good kisser? Anyone can be, with the right technique."
haha, i got this from youtube while i was searching for a song i just heard earlier. the name of the singer/band is kiss (not the american kiss band coz it's korean) when i bumped onto this video. i'll be posting more of this or if u wanted to see more now, just go to their website - www.howcast.com. enjoy ^^
flip flops
my love-hate relationship with the rainy season dates back to grade school. i'm always geared up from head to toe just so i wont get wet. but somehow, the water manages to get in :( how i hate it when my uniform, hair and socks got so damp! imagine how awesome a day could be when you are in a public place and there's no way to dry a damp socks, either you let your feet soak or let your feet soak o_O. why do the classes here starts in june? why don't they delay it until the rainy days are over? (well, that will make the school days shorter for it rains half a year, yay!)
i'm not saying that i awfully hate the rain. i love it when it rains and i have nothing to do except cuddle up under my sheets. i love to sleep when there's a heavy downpour. but if i needed to be somewhere out and the rain suddenly pour, and i cant wear anything but flip flops, that's definitely a big pffft.
it rained today, and yes, it was slippery outside so i chose the flip flop that wouldnt slip on wet floors. i needed to deposit something to the bank and so was in a hurry to catch it open. i walked a bit briskly and to my surprise, the flip flop that i was wearing really did not slip on the wet ground. only that it got stuck on the slanting sidewalk as i hurried my way up the bank. it got so stuck that when i tried to pull my right foot up, the strap came off. luckily, the other pair didnt stick on the ground. imagine how embarrassing and exasperating that moment was. i was dragging my right foot as i walked while i was trying hard to hold the umbrella still for the wind blew a bit hard as it drizzled. and then when i found a spot (which wasnt really a private one), i tried fixing the thongs and got my hand quite unclean. sigh, lesson learned: before going out in the rain, make sure that your flip flops wont flop, that is to check whether it would slip or stick.

happy 100 years UP!
how would you eat an ice cream on the cone at a public place?
sweats formed on my forehead as i sat on one of the wooden chairs of the long table in the middle of the faculty room. i waited patiently for my turn. when it came, i tried hard to flash a very sweet smile, making the college secretary smile back sweetly at me. after the Q&A portion, we finally came to an agreement, she would endorse my letter to the vice chancellor since i promised to finish my thesis in one semester. (hurrah! but not yet because there is no assurance that the higher beings would extend my residency. nevertheless, i'm very happy ^^)
the excitement made me flew down the dreaded flights of stairs, as if i had wings. i was so happy, i kept on smiling to the world without realizing the stares i got from the students inside the building (even manong guard reacted like "ugh!"). i glanced up the grey sky when i got out the main lib and silently said "thank God". my fate has been passed on to the hands of the higher beings (i.e. the vice chancellor for academic affairs). despite my pending fate, i already felt like i won the lotto jackpot. upon reaching the bottom of the main lib steps (yes, another flight of stairs), i started feeling drained and exhausted. it was a long day. i suddenly realized it was hot despite the clouds above. it rained a little in the morning but this afternoon, the sun somehow showed up a little, even for a while. it was when i realized that i was indeed famished.
the long island (a kiosk near the main library where i usually eat pasta and ice cream whenever i'm in the uni) seemed to be the perfect place to ease my pang of hunger. but because the place was already droned by other hungry students, i opted to just order a pistachio ice cream to go. they might not have the creamiest ice cream that i've ever tasted but at least their two scoops of pistachio ice cream has loads of real pistachio in it. that is the reason why i order the same flavor every time i eat at long island (uhm, the kiosk). when asked if i want it on a cone or in a cap, i chose the former. how i always love sugar cones.
it started to drizzle as i walked away from the kiosk. i was so famished i wanted to devour the whole ice cream. but i was walking along the sidewalk of the acad oval and it was just around three in the afternoon so there were still a lot of people around. now, how am i supposed to eat the ice cream without showing my delirious desire to swallow it whole? suppose i'd lick it, would it hide my cruel intention to the ice cream? but i can't lick an ice cream when there are other people around. i don't know why but i'd rather bite (yes bite) the ice cream with my lips than lick it in front of other people.
the ice cream started to drip on my hand so i finally tried to lick it. it was so quick that my tongue barely touched the melting part of the ice cream. i was too paranoid to think that all the people around me were watching me eat my ice cream. with a sudden hit of vertigo, i finally decided to actually eat the ice cream, my ice cream, setting aside my paranoia. how i ate it? may i scream?!
p.s.
what's more important is that it made me sugar high ^^

this facebook application is definitely an ego booster so it's quite addictive. i thought im gonna sleep early tonight but here i am, still up and facebooking minutes before midnight. but the good thing is that im really sleepy so i guess im gonna sleep not long after the midnight (which is way better than sleeping at 4am!)
sweet dreams to everyone.
(by the way, our college secretary didnt endorsed my petition to the vice chancellor to extend my residency. but i pray she would after i speak with her tomorrow. *fingers crossed*)

important note on health
speaking of taking time for yourself, i have received a very informative e-mail from a friend. it's about reasons for sleeping and waking up early along with other healthy living tips. i have tried sleeping early and waking up early when they put me to C shift (6am-3pm) at work. i felt better and i performed better at work then. but for a quite while now, after quitting my job, i went back to my old sleeping habit (methinks im a certified night owl o_O) but really, i would really wanna live healthy just so i could enjoy the good things in life and be able to share it with other people :)
Reasons for sleeping and waking up early.
Evening at 9 - 11pm:
the time for eliminating unnecessary/ toxic chemicals (detoxification) from the antibody system (lymph nodes). This time duration should be spent by relaxing or listening to music. If during this time a housewife is still in an unrelaxed state such as washing the dishes or monitoring children doing their homework, this will have a negative impact on health.
Evening at 11pm - 1am:
the detoxification process in the liver occurs at this time, and ideally should be done in a deep sleep state.
Early morning 1 - 3am:
detoxification process in the gall, also ideally done in a deep sleep state.
Early morning 3 - 5am:
detoxification in the lungs. Therefore there will sometimes be a severe cough for cough sufferers during this time. Since the detoxification process had reached the respiratory tract, there is no need to take cough medicine so as not to interfere with toxin removal process.
Morning 5 - 7am:
detoxification in the colon, you should empty your bowel.
Morning 7 - 9am:
absorption of nutrients in the small intestine, you should be having breakfast at this time. Breakfast should be earlier, before 6:30am, for those who are sick. Breakfast before 7:30am is very beneficial to those wanting to stay fit. Those who always skip breakfast, they should change their habits, and it is still better to eat breakfast late until 9 - 10am rather than no meal at all.
Sleeping so late and waking up too late will disrupt the process of removing unnecessary chemicals. Aside from that, midnight to 4:00 am is the time when the bone marrow produces blood. Therefore, have a good sleep and don't sleep late.
THE TOP FIVE CANCER-CAUSING FOOD:
1. Hot dogs
Because they are high in nitrates, the Cancer Prevention Coalition advises that children eat no more than 12 hot dogs a month. If you can't live without hot dogs, buy those made without sodium nitrate.
2. Processed meats and bacon
Also high in the same sodium nitrates found in hot dogs, bacon, and other processed meats raise the risk of heart disease. The saturated fat in bacon also contributes to cancer.
3. Doughnuts
Doughnuts are cancer-causing double trouble. First, they are made with white flour, sugar, and hydrogenated oils, then fried at high temperatures. Doughnuts, says Adams , may be the worst food you can possibly eat to raise your risk of cancer.
4. French fries
Like doughnuts, French fries are made with hydrogenated oils and then fried at high temperatures. They also contain cancer- causing acrylamides which occur during the frying process.
5. Chips, crackers, and cookies
All are usually made with white flour and sugar. Even the ones whose labels claim to be free of trans-fats generally contain small amounts of trans-fats.
BRAIN DAMAGING HABITS
1. No Breakfast
People who do not take breakfast are going to have a lower blood sugar level. This leads to an insufficient supply of nutrients to the brain causing brain degeneration.
2. Overeating
It causes hardening of the brain arteries, leading to a decrease in mental power.
3. Smoking
It causes multiple brain shrinkage and may lead to Alzheimer disease.
4. High Sugar consumption
Too much sugar will interrupt the absorption of proteins and nutrients causing malnutrition and may interfere with brain development.
5. Air Pollution
The brain is the largest oxygen consumer in our body. Inhaling polluted air decreases the supply of oxygen to the brain, bringing about a decrease in brain efficiency.
6. Sleep Deprivation
Sleep allows our brain to rest. Long term deprivation from sleep will accelerate the death of brain cells.
7. Head covered while sleeping
Sleeping with the head covered increases the concentration of carbon dioxide and decrease concentration of oxygen that may lead to brain damaging effects.
8. Working your brain during illness
Working hard or studying with sickness may lead to a decrease in effectiveness of the brain as well as damage the brain.
9. Lacking in stimulating thoughts
Thinking is the best way to train our brain, lacking in brain stimulation thoughts may cause brain shrinkage.
10. Talking Rarely
Intellectual conversations will promote the efficiency of the brain
The main causes of liver damage are:
1. Sleeping too late and waking up too late are main cause.
2. Not urinating in the morning.
3. Too much eating.
4. Skipping breakfast
5. Consuming too much medication.
6. Consuming too much preservatives, additives, food coloring, and artificial sweetener.
7. Consuming unhealthy cooking oil. As much as possible reduce cooking oil use when frying, which includes even the best cooking oils like olive oil. Do not consume fried foods when you are tired, except if the body is very fit.
8. Consuming raw (overly done) foods also add to the burden of liver. Veggies should be eaten raw or cooked 3-5 parts. Fried veggies should be finished in one sitting, do not store.
We should prevent this without necessarily spending more. We just have to adopt a good daily lifestyle and eating habits. Maintaining good eating habits and time condition are very important for our bodies to absorb and get rid of unnecessary chemicals according to "schedule."

morning sunshine, wakie wakie
so i started going out lately. like a toddler on his first day on the nursery school, i crawled my way out into the unknown realm. seeing familiar faces and places erased some of the fears. an old classmate asked me 'ba't hindi ka na nagsusulat ng blog?' when i bumped into her while i was fixing my late enrollment this week. she was referring to my friendster blog because i used to write there quite regularly. (i also copy/paste some of my blogs from here to my friendster blog when i run out of time to write.) i never thought people do read my blog too. i only write when i feel like writing. most of the things that i blog (or i want to blog) are those that would inspire other people but lately i have been writing complaints so i stopped writing online and put all my angst on paper. i have been keeping a loose paper diary where i only write on when im so heightened by an intense emotion (either im so down or im so happy) and there is nobody to speak with. so most of the entries are months apart.
now that im back, i'll try to blog as often as i could. i just hope that my residency would be extended so i could work on my thesis this semester (since i have already given up my job). that would mean i'll be writing a lot and probably i'd blog more than usual. to start again, i want to share another Hale Dwoskin's article. it's about taking time for oneself. enjoy reading ;)
The Necessity of Taking Time for Yourself -- And How to Really Do It
by www.Sedona.com
by www.Sedona.com
So many of us feel guilty if we’re not busy all the time, and pat ourselves on the back for working like crazy. This, we feel, shows what type of person we are: one who puts others first, and isn’t afraid of a little hard work.
Yet, where does this martyr-type attitude really get us?
For one, it gets us plenty of stress, which we all know can lead to heart disease, diabetes, depression and more illnesses in general. It also gets us feeling downright harried on most days of the week, so much so that our days whiz by without so much as a stroll through the park or an hour with a really good book.
“Many of us live a life filled with doing things for others while forgetting ourselves,” says Hale Dwoskin, CEO and director of training of Sedona Training Associates. “And even if you are not a caregiver or someone who puts others first, you sometimes get so busy with the task at hand in your life that you forget that you also need to take care of and nurture yourself.”
Indeed, the more you focus on others at the expense of yourself, the more likely you are to become burned out, bitter, and possibly even resentful. Clearly, this is not a favor to anyone in your life.
“It is critically important to remember to take care of yourself,” Dwoskin says. “If you're not taking care of yourself you deplete your own energy and you also prevent yourself from enjoying whatever it is that you are doing in life.”
How to Take Time for Yourself
It’s not always easy to set aside “me” time, particularly if you’re used to always giving. But here are some tips that can help:
1. Look at “me” time as a priority. Schedule it into your day like you do eating, sleeping and working.
2. Make a list of various things you’d enjoy doing during “your” time and refer to it whenever you have a free moment.
3. Trim your schedule of activities you don’t find fulfilling, along with people who drain your energy. Use the time you’d spend on them for yourself.
4. Realize you don’t have to be perfect. If you’ve been spending loads of time preparing elaborate dinner parties or baking for your son’s school bake sale, relax. Order a pizza next time you have friends over, and pick up some cookies from a local bakery for your son. Voila! Instant “me” time.
5. Make it a routine. It takes about three to six weeks to make something a habit, so commit to your scheduled “me” time for that long and it should become second nature.
6. Release. Anytime you’re feeling overwhelmed or tempted to over-commit yourself, release those feelings using The Sedona Method.
“As you do take time for yourself you find the time actually expands,” Dwoskin says. “Even when you're engaged in other actions that may not appear to be for you, you’ll find your efficiency level going up dramatically because you have taken a timeout. By the way, one of the best ways to take a time out is to spend some time releasing.”
